Commission pressure
You generate the business, build the client relationship and carry many of the operating costs. It is reasonable to ask whether your current commission split still reflects the value you create.
For South African estate agents considering eXp
If you are an established agent who wants to keep more of what you earn, work with greater flexibility, access practical support and build more long-term value from your business, it may be worth taking a closer look at the eXp model.
No pressure. No public meeting. Just a straightforward, confidential conversation.
A calm, private place to understand the model, ask practical questions and decide whether eXp could suit your business.

Why experienced agents start exploring other options
You may already have experience, clients, listings and a strong reputation. The question is whether the structure around your business is helping you retain more of what you earn and build something of greater long-term value.
You generate the business, build the client relationship and carry many of the operating costs. It is reasonable to ask whether your current commission split still reflects the value you create.
A traditional commission-only model may provide income today without helping you build ownership, equity or additional value for the future.
Agents want independence, but they also need responsive people, reliable systems and practical help when questions or challenges arise.
The purpose of exploring eXp is not simply to move agencies. It is to consider whether a different model could allow you to keep more, build more and work with greater freedom.
The eXp model
eXp brings together a capped commission model, additional income opportunities, company shares, practical training, smarter marketing tools, wider collaboration and real human support. Here are the benefits that agents usually find most valuable when they first explore the model.
When we joined eXp, we were not simply looking for a better commission split. We also wanted more freedom, stronger support and a way to build something of lasting value for the future. Having made the move ourselves, we now help other agents understand the model clearly and decide whether it could work for their business.
Lydia & André
Start on a 71/29 commission split. Once you reach the annual company cap, your split moves to 96/4 for the rest of your anniversary year.
Qualifying bond referrals and other selected partner services can create additional income for you. The referral commission is passed on 100% to the agent.
When you introduce productive agents to eXp, you can qualify for revenue share linked to their production. Over time, this can create another income stream alongside your own property sales.
Qualifying agents can earn or buy shares in eXp, giving them an opportunity to participate in the growth of the wider company.
Access live and recorded training covering property sales, marketing, compliance, systems and business growth, wherever you are.
Use AI workflows, lead-generation tools, property marketing platforms, CRM and follow-up systems to save time, market more effectively and give suitable properties broader local and international exposure.
More freedom to grow your business: eXp does not restrict agents to a small franchise territory. You can work across any areas where you are legally permitted and able to serve clients properly, and collaborate with thousands of eXp agents across South Africa and internationally.
eXp operates online, but the support comes from real people during and after the move, with additional support from the wider eXp South Africa community.

Why speak to us?
We joined eXp after many years in a traditional real estate environment. We therefore understand both the attraction of a new model and the uncertainty involved in changing the way an established business operates.
Our revenue-share organisation within eXp now includes more than 250 agents across South Africa. This gives us practical insight into the questions agents ask, the concerns they have and the support they need before, during and after making the move.
We are not here to pressure agents into joining eXp. Our role is to explain the model openly, work through the practical implications and help each agent decide whether it makes sense for their business.
We remain active property practitioners and also have extensive experience in agent training, webinars, marketing tools, national collaboration and helping agents make the practical transition into the eXp environment.
We help you understand commission, fees, systems, revenue share, equity, support and the practical implications of moving.
If you decide to proceed, we help you understand the onboarding process, important systems and the first practical steps.
André provides practical training and guidance around digital tools, AI, marketing, online systems and business efficiencies.
You remain connected to active agents who understand South African transactions and the everyday realities of running a property business.
You should only consider eXp if the model makes practical and financial sense for your own business.
A real example
Shené Vorster entered real estate without an established client database or years of previous experience. Through consistent work, collaboration, training and effective use of the eXp model, she became one of eXp South Africa's youngest capping agents and later achieved ICON Agent status.
Her journey does not mean every agent will achieve the same result. It does, however, demonstrate what can become possible when the available systems, community and opportunities are used with purpose.

No. Many agents speak to us while they are still comparing options or simply trying to understand the model. A conversation does not commit you to joining eXp or taking any further step.
eXp has a once-off joining fee of R900 and a fixed monthly fee of R900. Fees and company policies may change periodically.
The company portion of qualifying transactions contributes towards an annual cap during the agent's anniversary year. After the applicable cap has been reached, qualifying transactions generally move to the post-cap split for the remainder of that year.
Yes. eXp is cloud-based, but it is not intended to leave agents isolated. Support is available through eXp South Africa, the wider agent community and the people who help introduce and guide you through the model.
Agents can continue developing their own professional identity within eXp's branding, advertising, legal and compliance guidelines.
eXp does not operate through small protected franchise territories. Agents may work in any areas where they are legally permitted and professionally able to provide proper service.
This depends on your existing agreements, current agency, mandate terms and the stage of each transaction. These matters should be handled carefully and professionally. We can help you identify the practical questions that should be resolved before any move.
Revenue share is linked to qualifying production by agents introduced into the company. It should be viewed as an additional opportunity within the model, not as assured income or a substitute for running a productive real estate business.
Yes. eXp has different options for principals, team leaders and established groups to make the transition even more worthwhile. Because every business is structured differently, the best option is discussed case by case.
We respect existing relationships. If another eXp agent introduced you to the company and has already been assisting you, it is fair to continue that conversation with them. If the position is unclear, speak to us before starting an application so that the applicable eXp process can be explained.
Then you should not join. The purpose of the conversation is to help you understand the model and decide whether it suits your goals, business and preferred way of working.
Yes. You can watch the videos, read the information, use the AI information assistant or speak to us privately. We would love to chat, and there will be no pressure and no obligation to take the conversation any further. We understand that agents often want to explore their options discreetly before making any decisions.
